Well, it all came down to the last race, last lap, last minute to decide on the Formula1 World Champion 2021 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This is the level of excitement, F1 fans witnessed to finally know the champion for this season.

The moment!

It was Lap 56, while Safety Car still on tracks, Perez drove into the pits to retire. Verstappen had fresh soft tyres, and as the Safety Car went off the track, the lapped cars were allowed to clear out of the way, and now it was down to a one-lap shoot-out between Hamilton and Verstappen.

Hamilton was leading, until the duo came close at Turn 5 and that was where Verstappen made the winning overtake. Hamilton attempted to avoid the pass, but his chance at taking a record eighth World Championship seemed to slip away. With a 2.2 seconds lead, finally the moment arrived for the dutchman to witness his first Formula1 World Championship 2021! It was indeed a movie style dramatic finish to the season finale. Let's hope the upcoming season 2022 is as exciting and thrilling!
