Ricciardo had a positive start at P2, soon taking the lead to keep Verstappen behind followed by his team mate until end of the race. This is Ricciardo's first win since 2018. As for Norris, he fought well and defended the third position against Verstappen, eventually finishing the race at P2.

Hamilton was off to a better start chasing Verstappen for the second position. He had to pit stop and came out just ahead of Verstappen. The two fought quite close at Turn 1 but at Turn 2 there was a wheel-to-wheel contact, that alighted Red Bull to land on the cockpit area of the Mercedes, pushing both cars into the gravel. Eventually, Hamilton and Verstappen were out of the race. The Red Bull car tyre landed on the halo of the Mercedes cockpit area, that just saved Hamilton from a serious injury. Both the drivers are obviously disappointed with the incident, avoiding which, could have fetched them more points closer to the Driver and Constructor Championships. Valtteri Bottas started in the back but paved his way to the podium and finished P3.
